Fr. Hernan Astudillo
Father Hernan Astudillo arrived in Canada as a political refugee in 1992. In 1999 he was ordained as the first Latin American Anglican priest in Canada. Later he received a Master’s degree in Theology from the University of Toronto. Linda McGlade is a retired high school geography teacher who taught for 31 years. After receiving a Master of Arts degree in International Development in 1997, she began volunteering and working in solidarity with the Latin American community in Toronto, helping to further the cause of integration and access for the voiceless to services in Canada. This led to the formation of the Caravan of Hope with Fr. Astudillo in 2001.
San Lorenzo Parish
Home to a growing community of Latin Americans, the San Lorenzo Parish was resurrected in 1997 to create a Latin American Anglican congregation in the Diocese of Toronto. It isn’t just a place of worship, but also one of healing, of learning, and of coming together over pupusas and empanadas to celebrate our community. The Parish also prides itself on its fundraising and volunteering efforts.
